Notes/Warnings: This is a fill for #21, Lightning Strike, although I misremembered the challenge as 'Lightning' xD With a side of #17, Gravity.
I'm obsessed with the lyric video for Marianas Trench's A Normal Life - the music is so good, but I also love the visuals and the way it's practically a short film. I've played it a bonkers number of times. I was thinking that I could nominate it for Yuletide this year, but then I remembered the Small Fandoms Drabblethon and how much I loved just writing drabbles for tiny fandoms that I enjoy. So I came here to see if any prompts inspired, and this is the result :D
The wolves were calling to them.
A flash lit up the sky, filling Astoria with a crackling, restless energy. It was always like this during storms. They had pushed the feeling down, ignoring it, clinging to a semblance of a normal life.
It couldn't be denied any more. They walked into the darkened forest, and the wind howled around them. It pushed them on.
A hot air balloon waited. Astoria climbed in, gathering the wind to them. Lightning flared, and they felt - unearthly. Powerful. Right.
The storm tore them from gravity's clutches, and Astoria was unafraid. They were going home.
