About
Hi, and welcome to

![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
If you have any questions/concerns/suggestions, you can put them on this post. The comm's set-up progress can be found here.
If posting your fic on AO3, you can add it to this collection. If on Squidgeworld, there is this collection.
A chronological masterpost of all challenges can be found here.
If you're here as a reader, the easiest way to peruse the fics is probably with the [!] fic roundup tag. (Though you naturally won't be finding roundups for the current month there!)
Schedule
I'm keeping the schedule simple: 2 prompts a month, one prompt on every 1st and 15th of the month. No need to make things complicated here. There is no deadline, which means there's no amnesty. You can use any prompt at any time, even if it's years old. You can also combine these prompts with other events as you please.
The hope is simply some more content for the truly tiny fandoms!
Challenge Rules
- This is a challenge solely for tiny fandoms; in this instance that is a fandom with 500 or less works on AO3. Fics not on AO3 are not counted in this number because that's research and math I'm just not going do.
a. 500 fics or less does not take the fic's language into account. If there are 503 fics in the fandom on AO3 and 4 of them are not in English, it still does not qualify. - Minimum word count is 100 words. There is no maximum word count, however all fics must be posted in their entirety all at once. You're welcome to split it into chapters etc. within the post!
a. If your story is so long it doesn't fit within a single post, you are allowed to split it into the smallest number of posts possible. - RPF (Real Person Fiction) is not allowed.
a. However, fictionalized (keyword: fictionalized) historical figures that have been dead for at least 1 century are allowed. - Original fiction is not allowed but original *characters* are.
- Crossover fics are allowed if both fandoms are tiny (ie both fandoms need to have 500 fics or less on AO3).
- Please post your fic directly to the community. Once the next prompt goes up or it's been 2 weeks (whichever comes first) give your fic wings and post it wherever you want!
a. To post to the community, you must be a member.
b. Post the actual fic behind a cut. The header information should not be behind the cut.
c. Thereiswill be (when I figure out how to make it work) a code block below the rules' list that you cope-paste as a header, as well as a guide to formatting the subject line. - Only fics should be posted to the community. If you have questions, concerns etc. there is a specific post for you to comment on.
- All ratings, all pairing, all alternate universes, genres etc. are allowed.
a. If you post a fic with explicit material, whether that's smut or gore or something else,, remember to mark the post with the relevant age restriction. The default is no restriction. - Mark spoilers in the header section when relevant! It doesn't matter if the source material is complete or ongoing, put spoilers warnings as needed.
- 5 fics in a fandom = a fandom tag, 3 fics within 3 months OR 5 fics total = an author tag. These tags will be retroactively aplied to all relevant fics.
- Note that if you don't tag for everything relevant yourself I'll do it for you. But as there's lots of fandoms I'm not familiar with, I might get the tags wrong. To prevent that as much as possible, please try to remember to tag things correctly. (And if I tag things wrongly, let me know.)
Guidelines - Posting your fic
Header Information
Put this first in your post!
Title:
Author:
Fandom: (Full fandom name, including TV or Movie, author name if it's a book) (ex: The King's Delight - Sarah Honey, ex: Leverage (TV), ex: Prey (Video Game))
Rating: (Teen, General, Explicit etc)
Category: (M/M, F/F, Gen, etc)
Relationship(s): ( / for romantic relationships, & for platonic relationships, ~ for queerplatonic relationships)
Character(s):
Word Count:
Spoiler:
Summary:
Notes/Warnings:
I've finally learned how to do the codebox, so heres the header in an easily copy-pasteble format. First up is the markdown version:
And here's the HTML version:
Content Warnings
When applicable, use AO3's content warnings! Those are the following: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-Con, Underage
Put your fic behind a [Read more] cut
This is done by using the < cut > (but without the spaces) tag. Put cut before the first word of your fic, then after the very end, enclose the tag with < / cut >. You can customize your read more text by putting *text=write the new cut text here* in the the first cut tag, between cut and > (there should be a space between *cut* and *text*)
Subject line formatting
The subject line when you post your fic should look like this:
(Challenge #) fic title goes here [Fandom]
Example:
(#44) the universe never told me how to live [Leverage (TV)]
(#300) stepping stones [Honor Harrington - David Weber]
(#1) follow the riverside [Malevolent (Podcast)]
Guidelines - Tagging your post
Simply put: 5 fics in a fandom = a fandom tag, 3 fics within 3 months = an author tag. For other things, always tag for word count, content warnings, rating & category.
Qualifications
Adaptations
For the purpose of this challenge, adaptations are treated as separate fandoms. Which means 1 adaptation might qualify and another one might not. This is in an effort to make the qualifications as clear-cut and simple as possible.
Ex:
The Vampire Dies in No Time (manga) currently has 509 works on AO3 = do not qualify. The anime adaptation currently has 157 works = qualify.
Archive 81 (Podcast) has 140 works = qualify. Archive 81 (TV) has 1 work = qualify.
The Expanse (TV) has 869 works = do not qualify. The Expanse Series - James S. A. Corey has 267 works = qualify.
Franchises
Individual installments in franchises are treated as separate fandoms to the extent possible. The Guardians of the Galaxy movies is a fandom on its own to which all 3 movies belong, and the fandom in turn belongs to the MCU, and on both accounts they do not qualify.
In franchises it's not always so simple to determine but a good rule of thumb might be; is the individual movie, book, tv show etc. understandable on its own? Does it tell a complete, separate story on its own, even if it might be connected to the larger franchise? If it does, and that fandom has a tag on AO3 with less than 500 fics, consider it to qualify.
When it comes to franchises, it's probably gonna be a judgment call on your part some times and I'll not always know what's what. So I'll take your word for it.
