Title: Jake Faces Amir's Reality
Author: dandelionblizzard
Fandom: Jake and Amir
Rating: T
Category: Gen
Relationship(s): None
Character(s): Jake Hurwitz
Word Count: 271
Spoiler: None
Summary: Jake visits Amir's apartment. Set during Amir Faces The Harsh Reality Of Dating.
Notes/Warnings:
Amir didn't show up to work today. Instead of taking this as a rare day off, Jake decided to stop by Amir's apartment and check in. He pauses with his hand on the doorknob – this is a terrible, horrible mistake. Amir could be hurt, though, and he can't make it to the hospital without Jake, for some reason. Does he really need another death on his conscious?
The door's unlocked. Inside, one single mattress on the floor under a nest of blankets, with one dinosaur pillow. Directly next to it, a shrine of Jake. Under all of the photos of him plastered to the wall sits a bottle of lotion and a tissue box, conveniently next to a wastepaper basket. Jake grimaces – *really?* On the other side of the room, next to the paper plates on a stack of Rick Astley records lies a broken bottle of cologne. He's out on a date, then.
Jake should go, take the rest of his day off while he can. But he can't stop thinking about tomorrow – Amir'll brag about his date that probably went terribly, still stinking like cologne because he doesn't know how to shower properly. Before he does, he looks closer at the shrine. Front and center – a promo photo they took back when CH were trying to make their staff look all buddy-buddy, where Amir has his arm around Jake. Jake's trying his best to look comfortable, keep a smile on his face. It was easier when he didn't know what a monster he was sitting across from every day. Jake takes the photo, and leaves. Amir doesn't deserve it.
